I was going to write a recap of the essay questions, etc.  But I’m not going to now – it was all too boring.  Sorry.

Oh, come ON, Oregon Bar Exam – is that the best you’ve got?

It’s lunchtime, and my main concern is just that the easy stuff might be over.  The MBE is of no concern, but what about those next 6 essays?

Well, with only five posts leading up to today, this blog wasn’t exactly what I’d thought it might be (a clone of my California bar blog, “Sometimes You Eat the Bar…“).

Although, when you compare the amount of studying I did for the Oregon bar with the amount I did for the California bar, I wrote more than enough here!

So, now we’re only about 10 hours away from starting the next bar adventure.  I’m non-plussed as usual.  I should be in bed.  But, I’m planning to spend a few minutes at every break writing down what I can remember about the questions and my analysis/answers, and then post it later in the evening.  Obviously, this will just happen on Tuesday night, because I’m not likely to remember much from all those dozens of MBE questions.

So, at least to myself and the mighty-fine woman, good luck, and don’t let the bar eat you!

I haven’t done anything in the way of bar studying since the last post.

Tonight, in a moment of boredom, I did a set of 20 mixed questions – 95% accuracy.  Damn that one!!!

Part of me is concerned that, given my nonchalance about the Oregon bar exam, I might slack off too much for my own good.

The other part of me cruelly mocks that first part, knowing that I don’t think I studied very hard even for the California Bar Exam, which I thought was pretty easy.

Then again, you never know how close you were to the fail-mark, do you?

Then again AGAIN, sometimes you can just feel it…

My new MBE benchmarking is complete:

Click to expand or collapse Constitutional Law (20) 90%
Click to expand or collapse Contracts (20) 60%
Click to expand or collapse Criminal Law (20) 75%
Click to expand or collapse Evidence (20) 75%
Click to expand or collapse Real Property (20) 65%
Click to expand or collapse Torts (20) 75%

So, Con Law is way up, contracts is a bit low, and the overall average is nearly 10% higher than my initial 2007 benchmarks.

I’m finished with my second subject benchmark: Constitutional Law came out at 90%!

Probably would be good to compare these 2008 benchmarks with the initial 2007 benchmarks – and obviously, they should register much higher than the older ones!

2007 Initial Benchmark Results

382 days ago, I started a blog of my experience studying for, taking, and waiting for the results of the July 2007 California Bar Exam.

Now, after having vanquished that particular monster, I have officially begun studying for the July 2008 Oregon Bar Exam!  So, when better to start a new blog than tonight?

It is a sweltering sweatbox here in California – has been all day.  Just another great reason to get the hell out of here and back up to Portland!  I took a hot bottle of gatorade out of my car about an hour ago, and put it in the fridge.  It’s only just reached room temperature, so I switched it to the freezer.  Maybe that will do something to ease the heat…

I won’t be studying alone.  She’ll be studying with me.  That’ll make things easier.  But, in truth, I’m not concerned with the difficulty of the Oregon Bar.  Having already passed down here, and taking into account the much higher passing-rate in Oregon, my approach to studying this time is going to rest in between “nonchalant” and “mildly interested.”

I’m going with another round of Adaptibar, which can’t be beat for MBE prep (and at $195 for a repeater, who can complain?).  And, for the essays, I’m getting myself hooked up with the Oregon-specific BAR/BRI materials, in spite of my disdain for Bar/BRI.

I’m going to do MBE benchmarks for all six subjects, just like I did back in 2007.  So far, I’ve done crim law, and benched at 75%.  So far so good ;)
